Living Hope- Quarterly Report (Jan- March 2021)

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ! It is sheer joy to share with you what God has done in Living Hope and Family of God Fellowship during the last quarter- January to March 2021. For we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!

School for poor children

School reopened on 4th January for the New academic year. A total of 82 children have been given admission in the school. Total strength of the school at present is 481 children. Each class comes only two days a week for a brief time of interaction with the teachers and meals because of COVID restrictions. In the month of February, we distributed dry

ration to the children, as they are not coming to only two days a week. Uniforms for all children were distributed in March. We have also placed order for school shoes. On March 27th a professional counsellor conducted a counselling session to the parents. The focus was upon learning during the COVID situation. On 15th and 16th March, teachers made a visit to the long absentees’ homes. From 30th March the Notunpara school resumed classes. Children wrote their monthly exams on 24th and 25th March 2021. The school celebrated Republic Day on 26th February.

After school and before school programmes

After school programme at Taldi and the before school programme at Mukhamberia are taking place on a daily basis. A new tutor is appointed to teach math and science to class 8 and class 9

Free medical clinic

During the time of pandemic 2106 general patients and 299 eye patients have been attended to through the free medical clinics. The eye screening camp takes place once in two months. Appropriate arrangements have been made for the patients to maintain social distancing. Doctor Elsa and other clinic staff protect themselves in line with the COVID guidelines.

The regular operations of the clinic are expected to be shifted to the new building from the second week of May 2021.

Women Welfare Programmes

After the COVID lockdown, we resumed the tailoring classes for the economically underprivileged women in the month of January. There are 45 women attending the tailoring classes now. They come in three batches and learn tailoring and stitching.

In an attempt to create employment opportunities for women, we are teaching artificial jewellery to young girls and women. Some have been successful in selling their product using social media.

An expert doctor who is experienced in livelihood project visited our campus and the rural communities and took stock of things in order to provide us with further consultation on livelihood projects. As per his advice we are giving two female goats and one male goat to each beneficiary families. So far, 10 families

are provided chicks and cages. Each family has been provided with 20 chicks and one cage. Eight families are provided with flat rickshaws (van) and the financial means to run the van on village roads for a livelihood. Two unemployed youth are provided with skills to make bamboo houses.
